Manipulations & Biopuncture Injection Therapy

Manipulations and Biopuncture Injection Therapy in Tacoma, WAHere at Tacoma Health we also are trained in adjusting the spine and other joints as you would have done by your chiropractor or osteopath. Where we differ, however, is we perform manipulations with an emphasis placed on the soft tissue like muscles, tendons and ligaments instead of just the bones. These “muscular adjustments” bring greater mobility and flexibility of the joint through stretching and strengthening the muscles, tendons, and ligaments. When combined with the traditional bone adjustments, the results are a longer lasting adjustment. We also emphasize visceral manipulation and myofascial release for abdominal spasms causing cramps and pain. With the recent addition of homeopathic injections (biopuncture) in the affected area after a manipulation, a whole new dimension has been added to our adjustment therapies. Patients are feeling better faster and the time between treatments can be extended because healing is accelerated.

Manipulations and Biopuncture Injection Therapy in Tacoma, WABiopuncture is an emerging therapy from Europe utilizing very dilute injections of natural products which are introduced into the skin or muscle to stimulate the immune system. Instead of just covering up the symptom, the injections promote the natural healing ability of the body by attracting the immune system to the site for repair. This therapy is commonly used for pain such as muscular pain, pain involving joints, pain from injury and post surgical scar sites. It can also be very effective for many other conditions including general detoxification, headaches, allergies, sinusitis, eczema, cystitis, upset stomachs, diarrhea, and even menstrual cramps. The injections are given into the skin or muscles at specific points based on the condition being treated. The majority of the products used for injection are formulas derived from plants, such as arnica or Echinacea, for example. These products are dilute and thus are very safe doses that are unlikely to cause side effects. A numbing agent like lidocaine or procaine may also be added to the formula to help with pain relief. The needles that are used for the injection are very thin, much thinner than those typically used to give vaccinations, for example, and thus cause less discomfort.

The injections work by stimulating the immune system in the local area which promotes better blood circulation, tissue repair, relaxation of muscles or local detoxification. Often the injections have an effect immediately or positive improvement may also be seen later that day or the next day. Sometimes, however, the pain may even get slightly worse after the injection before it gets better. This is because the body mounts an immune response that creates inflammation in the area, which can cause pain. The pain may also shift from the painful area to another area as the body adapts to the treatment. All of these responses are seen as positive signs that the treatment is working.

Side effects are minimal. It is possible that you might develop a bruise or some pain at the site of injection the next day. You may also feel a bit tired the first 24 hours after a treatment because your body uses a lot of energy in order to repair tissue or to drain toxins.

The first injection is a very minimal treatment in both quantity of solution and number of injection sites. We always start slow and increase as the body progresses favorably. Usually you will receive several mini-injections around the focal point during a single session. It is recommended to have a series of 3-6 injections depending on the severity of the problem. More injections may be necessary if it is a long standing chronic condition. As the body responds and heals the inflammation the effects are longer-lasting and the time between injection treatments is lengthened.
